Distance: 6.7 miles. Climb: 80'.
Another good day for walking, warm and sunny, but at times a little on the breezy side, so much so that I had a job keeping my sunhat on.
On arrving at the river, it was a fairly high tide, but was just starting to fall.
Birds seen or heard today included: House sparrow, Common blackbird, Mallard, Black billed magpie, Lesser black back gull, Herring gull, Black headed gull, European robin, Common chaffinch, Dunock, Little egret, Common pheasant, Carrion crow, Oystercatcher, Pied wagtail, Skylark, Meadow pipit, Lapwing, Common whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Blue tit, Woodpigeon, Collared dove, House martin, Barn swallow, Winter wren and Common starling.
On arriving at Saltney Ferry Footbridge, I decided to stay on the Riverside Path on the south side of the river and walk as far as Sandycroft before turning back. As expected this side of the river is much quieter and I only saw half a dozen or so walkers and dog walkers and no cyclists at all.
It sounded as though the Flint Road from Saltney Ferry to Queensferry was being used as a race track, if the sound of roaring engines was anything to go by. I saw at leas one motorbike and several cars going at well over sixty m.p.h..
