When? Started: 1993 Who? Started with staff and friends from U H S, Chester. Organiser: Martyn Harris We walk every Wednesday and Saturdays, New Years day and May Day. How many walk? Walks take place as long as there are at least 2 wanting to walk on that day. More walk on a Wednesday than on a Saturday. Most ever: 29. Current group size walking: 2-7 in mid-week and 2-4 on Saturday. Where do we walk? Saturday: Anywhere in North and Mid-Wales, Peak District, Shropshire and the Long Mynd and as far North as the Trough of Bowland. Thursday: Anywhere within about 40 miles of Chester. Type of walk: Distance: 6 – 14 miles (but usually under 10 miles). Climb: up to 4000’ (but usually very much less!). Saltney Ferry to Chester Along The River 13th August 2022

Distance: 6.4 miles. Climb: 100'.
Time: 2 hours. Overall walking average: 3.2 m.p.h.
Temperature: 18.6 Celsius when I set off. About 25 Celsius whenI arrived at Chester. 27.4 Celsius when I arrived home at 11-00.
Beaufort Wind Force:  0 - 1. Calm to light air (never enough to feel any cooling benefit.

This was another day when the forecast mid-day temperatures were expected to get close to 30 Celsius, so the only option was an early morning stroll before it got too hot.
Lots of other walkers (some with dogs), runners and cyclists had the same idea, but even the cyclists didn't see to be travelling as fast as usual on the Wales Coastal Path. Upto about 08-30, the temperature was quite pleasant, but after that the temperature began to rise and it started to feel less comfortable as I walked around The Roodee.
At The Old Dee Bridge, I decide my best option was to head straight through the city centre to the Bull and Stirrup for breakfast.
Normally I would sit outside, but even at 09-10 it felt too warm, even in the shade.
After a good traditional breakfast and two cups of coffee, I was tempted to have a pint of Cwrw Eryri (Snowdonia Ale), but it was still only 10-10, so I headed to the Bus Exchange and caught the 10-34 bus home.
Birds seen or heard today included: Black headed gull, Lesser black back gull, Herring gull, Grey heron, House martin, Geat cormorant, Woodpigeon, Feral pigeon and Moorhen.
