In Search Of St Cynhafal 6th July 2022

Our first view of Moel Famau - not on the agenda today.
The Clwydian Hills from the banlks of the River Clwyd.
Not the easiest fallen tree to get under!
This one was muh better.
Cattle that showed too much interest in us, particularly the one in the middle hidig behind one of his ladies!
St. Hychan's Church.
The Vale of clwyd from near our lunch spot.
Leaving St. Cynhafal's Church.
The Golden Lion at Hendrerwydd gettig ready for a ber festival.
Alas we were too early, it starts on Friday ( 8th July)!
I needed to stop for a drink!
Distance: 8.0 miles. Clib: 725'.
Time: 4 hours 27 minutes. On the move walking average: 2.3 m.p.h. Overall walk average: 1.8 m.p.h.
Temperature: Max 197 Celsius. Lunch time - 19.2 Celsius.
Beaufort Wind Force 0 - 3. Mainly a light breeze and occasionally gusting to an 8 m.p.h. gentle breeze.
Group: Martyn, Mike, Fran, Nigel, David S and Ed.
This was almost the perfect weather for walking, largely overcast, but no rain and a gentle breeze that was very welcome at times when proximity to vegetation made it feel somewhat humid.
It was good to see that many stiles had been replaced by gates, particularly alon the river and the climb to our lunch spot in the Moel famau Countr Park.
Today we able to go inside St. Hycchan's Church, where we given a warm welcome by one of the church members that was getting the church ready for a wedding.
After lunch we headed downhill and visited or second church, St. Cynhafal's. The last time we visited this church was in June 2013, not long after it the renovation and painting of the church was completed.
The only excitement we experience was the attention we were given as we went through fields containing cows with their calves. Ed pretended to be a cow hand woth arms and lekis outstretch caused them to stop in their tracks and we were able to pass by.
Birds seen or heard today inclded: Common swift, Barn swallow, House sparrow, Chiffchaff, Common whitethroat. Woodpigeon, Common blackbird, Common pheasant and Common buzzard.
Overall an enjoyable walk, and only once did those in front want to take us in the wrong direction.
After walk drinks were enjoyed at the Dinirben Arms at Bodfari, where Brimstage's Sandpiper Ale was enjoyed by most of us. Purple moose;s Elderflower Ale and Brunning and Prices house bitter were sampled as well. Bragdy Lleu's Bendigeidfran was also samoled, but it wasn't to my liking. Maybe this explains why it said the beer was £4-30 on the board, but on the till it had been reduced to £3-90!
