Llanarmon-yn-Ial, Eryrys and More (for some) 6th April 2022

Pystyll Gwyn Quarry from above irs northern end.
The first of many challenging stiles we had to cross today.
Descending the south east slopes of Bryn Alyn on the way to Eryrys.
Crossing a "snow field" - no just the spoil tips left by historic quarrying.
A Cowslip in flower next to the quarry track to The Nant.
The mill at The Nant is somewhere in the picture.
Our lunch time view of the Clwydian Hills.
St.,Garmon's Church, Llanarmon-yn-Ial.
The old stone bridge north of Llanarmon-yn-Ial with its new/replaced support / hand rail.
The Pystyll Gwyn Quarry car park was full when I arrived back at the car.
Walk stats: Distance: ^.5 miles. Climb: 1160'.
Time: 4 hours 3 minutes. On the move walking average: 2.1 m.p.h. Overall wallk average: 1.6 m.p.h.
Temperature: Minimum - 5.6 Celsius as we crossed Bryn Alyn. Maximum - 13.2 Celsius - at Pystyll Gwyn Quarry at the end of the walk.
Beaufort Wind Force: 3 (gentle breeze), gusting to 4 (moderate breeze).
Group: Martyn, Nigel, Mike and Fran.
arriving at the start, the car thermometer read 8 Celsius and the cool breeze made it feel lower. Light rain was in the air, but we all had rainproof gear, so it didn't stop us setting off.
The forecast was for showers, but the first hour and a half it was just one shower. Paper maps didn't like it!
It just about stopped as we descended Bryn Alyn towards Eryrys when some took advantage of stopping for elevenses (even though it was 11-30!).
We stopped for lunch near the path from Nant Cottages towards Llanarmon-ynIal, where we wer able to find sufficient limestone "blocks" that were the right shape and side for us to sit on and enjoy the view of the Clwydian Hills.
At Llanarmon-yn-Ial, I decided to head back to the start and let the rest of the group "race" round the extension t the walk. (A report and photos on this part of the walk may appear on this post later).
Birds seen or heard today included: Chiffchaff, Goldfinch, House sparrow, Common blackbird, Woodpigeon, Black billed magpie, European robin, Winter wren, Carrio crow and Common buzzard.
I called in at the Druid Inn at Llanferres where I enjoyed a refreshing pint of Purple Moose's Cwrw Eryri (Snowdonia Ale), although I was surprised that it had increased in price to £4-05.
