Around Llyn Brenig and More 5th June 2021

Looking across Llyn Brenig towards the first nesting platform.
The first nesting platform, but what is on it?
A Stonechat next to the Clwydian Path.
Llyn Brenig from Bryn Maen.
Greylag geese on the hillside, east of our lunch spot.
Boncyn Arian Tumulus.
One of the many wind turbines on the hillside east of our lunch spot.
Looking west over Llyn Brenig.
At the impressive Platform Cairn on the hillside east of Hafoty Sion Llwyd.
The second nesting platform, but is it an Osprey or Goose on it?
Final view of Llyn Brenig from the dam at its southern end.
Distance: 10.5 miles. Climb: 945'.
Time: 5 hours 14 minutes. On the move walking average: 2.6 m.p.h. Overall walk average: 2.0 m.p.h.
Max temperature: 22.1 Celsius.
Beafort rWind Force: 0 - 3. Calm to light air to light breeze to gentle breeze.
Group: Martyn, Mike and Ed.
This was a very pleasant day for walking, largely sunny, warm and the occasional breeze that was very welcome if you briefly removed your sunhat and let the wind flow through your "locks"!
We had hoped to see the Ospreys, but the nesting platforms were too far off to identify what was on the nesting platform - was it an Osprey or was it a Greylag goose?
However we did hear an posibly see a couple of Cuckoos as well as hearing Cuckoos calling throughout the morning. We probably heard a Cuckoo calling  moe than a dozen times in the area north of the lake.
Birds seen or heard today included: Winter wren, Common blackbird, Stonechat, Meadow pipit, Skylark, Rook, Raven, Common buzzard, Canada goose, Greylag goose, Goldfinch, Barn swallow, Willow warbler, Chiffchaff, Herring gull, Lesser black back gull and Eurasian Curlew.
We enjoyed lunch at the Boncyn Arian picnic site, overlooking the lake.
Afterlunch, we decided to explore part of "The Trail in Search of Our Ancestors"
We arrived back at the cars, having had an excellent walk and looking forward to refreshments at the Sportsmans Arms o Denbigh Moors - alas it wasn't to be, they weren't open.
However we had a backup plan and headed for Llanfair Talhaarn and enjoyed a pint of Purple Moose's Snowdonia Ale.
