I couldn't resist taking a photo of this beautiful Water Lilly.
Just a short 4 mile morning stroll along the Promenade at Parkgate, followed by a visit to RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands NR.
Birds seen or heard today included: Marsh harrier, Lapwing, Common redshank, Grey heron, Oystercatcher, Little egret, Teal, Mallard. Canada goose, Greylag goose, House martin, Barn swallow, Herring gull, Black headed gull, Black tailed godwit, Moorhen, Common coot, Great white egret, Shelduck, Winter wren, Woodpigeon, Carrion crow, Jackdaw, Rook, Gadwall, Tufted duck and Pied avocet.
The highlights of the day was a large Common toad that walked over my foot along the boardwalk and later seeing a juvenile Common lizard on the fence, basking in the sunshine.
It was quite windy, so butterflies were few and far between. In fact I only saw several Large whites and just one Speckled wood.
