It was exactly one year ago that I did my first walk for exercise allowed under lockdown rules, hopefully there won't be a second anniversary walk!
My first solo walk was only 2.4 miles. I have got to know my local patch quite well over the last twelve months and met many friendly walkers /dogs and even one or two cyclists as well.
The forecast for today was supposed to be pretty good, although it turned out to be more overcast than I expected and the cool north westerly made it feel cooler that the double digit temperature recorded.
The sun didn't really come out until an hour after I arrived home.
European robins were out in force today, particularly at the start of my walk and along Ferry Lane on my way back.
Birds seen or heard today included: European robin, House sparrow, Mallard, Moorhen, Common starling, Pied wagtail, Common chaffinch, Common blackbird, Teal, Great cormorant, Common redshank, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Black billed magpie, Skylark, Goldfinch, Chiffchaff, Feral pigeon, Woodpigeon, Collared dove, Black headed gull, Canada goose, Herring gull, Lesser black back gull, Common kestrel, Carrion crow, Jackdaw, Raven, Fieldfare, Redwing, Greenfinch, Winter wren and Long tailed tit.
No Belugas today, but I did watch a RAF jet approaching the runway at Hawarden Airport, but then climbed steeply without actually landing - just a flypast!
The bird of the day was hearing my first Chiffchaff of the year.
Overall an enjoyable anniverary walk, or is that the whisky in my tea talking!
