This was good day for walking, not too hot and not to cold despite the lack of sunshine and the only cool breeze we experienced was as we approached the trig point on Moelfre Isaf.
This proved to be quite a varied walk and after a short climb up many steps we arrived at the Watch tower on Tower Hill. This was a good vantage point looking inland towards Moel Famau, but alas the trees blocked any view towards the coast.
Lunch was taken at Moelfre Isaf a superb spot to take in the Snowdonia vista. We had lunch sheltering from the breeze in one of the many hollows near the trig point.
After lunch the return route was largely downhill, although we had small climb as we went around the Western edge Pen y graig and Coed Abergele.
The walk from the coast into the centre of Abergele was made better by Ed showing us the way through part of Pentre Mawr Park, and similarly walking through the park on the way back.
As ever at this time of the year we saw many Spring flowers including: Wood anemone, Ramson, Bluebell, Primrose, Periwinkle Daisy Dandelion and Celandine,
Bird seen or heard today included: Common blackbird, Common coot, Moorhen, Woodpigeon, Collared dove, Winter wren, Carrion crow, Common chaffinch, Raven, Jackdaw, Herring gull, Skylark, Meadow pipit, Goldfinch and Common buzzard.
Once again as we walked along Nant y Creigiau some of the group saw several deer, probably Roe deer they thought.
Overall a very enjoyable walk celebrated afterwards by sampling the brews on offer at the Bluebell Inn at Halkyn.
Looking back at earlier blogs, the last time we did the walk in 2010, I was the only one of the group, so both Michel and Sue were right when they said that they had never done this walk before. My memory isn't as good as I thought it was!
