The weather today, just got better and better, plenty of warm sunshine and pleasant cooling breeze every now and then. This was a day not to rush and savour the moment, something we did particularly well at lunchtime when we had an extra long break.
The roadside verges were well endowed with a variety of flowers, with some Bluebells still in bloom and Stitchworts everywhere. However it was the buttercup meadows that stood out.
We had lunch on the top of Y Graig, where we took advantage of two picnic tables, and ate our lunch basking in the sunshine with excellent views towards the Vale of Clwyd. It was a very leisurely lunch with no-one in a rush to set off.
We explore one or two new (to us) paths, and found one that was on the map, but couldn't be accessed easily, and for the first time we actually walked through Tremeirchion, where we were able to visit the Church of Corpus Christi. We will have to visit it again as we didn't look carefully enough at all of the historical features dating back to the thirteen and fourteenth centuries.
Sue and Dave P left us at Tremeirchion, had they known we would only do about a mile more than them, they probably stayed with us.
Not many birds seen or heard today, but those we did included: Carrion crow, Jackdaw, Rook, House sparrow, Common chaffinch, Barn swallow, House martin, Black-billed magpie, Willow warbler, Woodpigeon,, European robin, Blue tit and Common pheasant.
We arrived back at the car at about 14-40, having had a very enjoyable and varied walk, with good views and boots that wouldn't need too much cleaning!
After walk drinks were enjoyed at the Blue bell Inn at Halkyn where Castle Rock, Harvest Pale went down well.
