A Saltney Ferry, Higher Ferry, Bumper's Lane and Ferry Lane Round.
Even the Blackbirds were trying to hide.
Gulls Coping being buffeted by the wind.
Looking towards the Deva Stadium from the Saltney Ferry Footbridge, with the river still not very high.
A Great cormorant flying close tothe surface of the River Dee as the tide is rising.
The start of Bumper's Lane - heading through the rain.
No prizes for guessing where this is.
Ferry Lane, heading into the sunshine.
House marting hunting insects on Ferry Lane, Higher Ferry.
Looking towards the Deva Stadium over the much higher River Dee, and the tide hasn't yet stopped rising.
Distance: 7.6 miles. Climb:140'.
Time: 2 hurs 55 minutes. On the move walking average: 3.2 m.p.h. Overall walk average: 2.7 m.p.h.
After paying a visit to the chiropodist, I needed to go to Screwfix to buy some Electrical Insulation Tape, but rather than go in the car I decided to walk there.
This wasn't a particularly good day for walking, in the main very windy and at times wet. In fact arriving at Bumper's Lane I only just had time to stop and put on my waterproofs for the rain became torrential.
I arrived at Screwfix to find that it was only doing "click and collect", so I had to return home without the tape.
On the Wales Coast Path, the wind was bwehind me, so I was cable to walk at a good brisk pace and created waves on the river, enhancing the rising tiide.
Birds seen or heard today included: Mallard, Chiffchaff, Barn swallow, House martin, European robin, Dunnock, Pied wagtail, Great tit, Goldfinch, Greenfinh, Mistle thrush. Herring gull, Lesser black back gull, House sparrow, Woodpigeon and Common blackbird.
Thankfully the rain stopped by the time that I had reached the Deva Stadium, so I was able to walk home with my waterproofs in my rucksack.
In fact as I walked down Ferry Lane to Higher Ferry, the Sun came out and it feklt pleasantly warm with the hedges shielding me from the wind.
Not a totally fruitless journey, I managed to purchase some tape from B & Q.
Overall an enjoyable walk and happy to arrive home still dry and in sunshine.
