Just a view Jackdaws having a rest!

A few more people have made it to White Nancy this afternoon.
Big Low from Croft Farm.
Our best view of Big Low.
The track to Big Low, but I don't think the landowner wants anyone to visit it!
The easy start of our route to Berristall Dale.
A gate that we nearly missed.
Crossing the footbridge over Mellow Brook.
Is this a hidden secret?

Distance: 8.0 miles. Climb: 1642’.
Time: 5 hours 42 minutes.
On the move walking average: 2.2 m.p.h.Overall walk average: 1.4 m.p.h.
Temperature: 5.8 Celsius at the start. 7.8 Celsius at lunch and 8.0 Celsius at the end.
Beaufort Wind Force: 0 – 3. Mainly calm, but gusted a 10.2 m.p.h. Gentle breeze near the Big Low.
Group: Martyn and Mike.
The weather looked good for a walk, no rain on the forecast with some sunshine, but feeling on the cool side (about 5 Celsius). Even the wind was less than on forecast, mainly insufficient to measure, although it did gust toa Gentle breeze as crossed the highest point in the track near Big Low.
We decided to climb to White Nancy first and do the Big Low / Berristall Dale circuit second.
The views from White Nancy were good, with Manchester on the skyline.
Croker Hill was easily identified as we walked along the Saddle of Kerridge.
Lunch was taken sitting on the grassy bank (next to the Gritstone Trail) below White Nancy and overlooking Bollington.
After lunch, we followed the Gritstone Trail as far as Oakenbank Lane where we left trail, heading for Big Low.
The path across the fields to Croft Farm, was particularly boggy and we relieved to reach the tarmac road.
White Nance and the Saddle of Kerridge came into view frequently during the Big Low and Berristall Dale walk.
This was a varied walk that might be better suited to being done in the Summer, when the ground may be less muddy and less challenging!
This time we started the walk at the Adlington Road car park, but probably the Pool Bank Car Park on Palmerston Street would have been better.
Birds seen or heard today: House sparrow, Dunnock, Jackdaw, Common blackbird, Common starling, Carrion crow, Woodpigeon, Blue tit, Coal tit, European robin, Black billed magpie, Great tit, Grey heron and Common buzzard.
After walk drinks were enjoyed at the Morris Dance in Kelsall where Big Hand’s Seren was Mike’s beer of choice.
