When? Started: 1993 Who? Started with staff and friends from U H S, Chester. Organiser: Martyn Harris We walk every Wednesday and Saturdays, New Years day and May Day. How many walk? Walks take place as long as there are at least 2 wanting to walk on that day. More walk on a Wednesday than on a Saturday. Most ever: 29. Current group size walking: 2-7 in mid-week and 2-4 on Saturday. Where do we walk? Saturday: Anywhere in North and Mid-Wales, Peak District, Shropshire and the Long Mynd and as far North as the Trough of Bowland. Thursday: Anywhere within about 40 miles of Chester. Type of walk: Distance: 6 – 14 miles (but usually under 10 miles). Climb: up to 4000’ (but usually very much less!). West Kirby, Parkgate and RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands 2nd November 2024

It's only 09-27, but there aren't many spaces left for roadside parking next to the Marine Lake.
Hopefully there will still be one left when we arrive there on Wednesday.

Walk Stats. 
Distance: 5.0 miles. Climb: 100'.
Temperature: 12 Celsius to 14 Celsius, although it felt quite cool at times and I wore my fleece throughout. 
Beaufort Wind Force: 0. Calm throughout, no noticeable wind.
Rather overcast, and at times a little dampness in the air. 
Birds seen or heard today included:  Common redshank, Turnstone, Eurasian curlew, Oystercatcher, Little egret,  Herring gull, Goosander, Feral pigeon, Carrion crow, Jackdaw, Black tailed godwit, Shoveler, Ruff, Teal, Shelduck, Greenfinch, Blue tit, Great tit, Long tailed tit, Mallard, Tufted duck, Pintail, Marsh harrier, European robin, Winter wren, Cetti warbler, Cattle egret, Wigeon, Gadwall, Grey heron, Goldfinch and Great spotted woodpecker.
A good morning at RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands, despite the Visitor Centre being closed. All other facilities including the café were available.
