Distance 8.5miles, climb 1399ft (OS maps).
Wind Gentle Breeze.
It was quite breezy and there was a chill in the air at the start point of the paddling pool at Craig Y Don, fortunately it is still not finished so we couldn't have a dip after the walk.
On the route up the road, we saw the first Pyramid Orchid and a Bee Orchid just before the gateway for the Little Orme.
Orchids were in their prevalence on the hillside as we entered the gateway.
The group took the more direct scenic route up to the summit of The Little Orme , where it was breezy as usual and had Great views of Yr Eryri and Moel Famau. Then we took the second summit path and had coffee at the watchtower . After descending the incline, we spotted 4 seals at Angel Bay and 1 Fulmar nesting on the quarry.
We continued through Penrhyn-side up Mynydd Pant , where we had lunch on the downslope looking over Conwy Castle and the Carneddau. No Orchids were spotted at our normal lunch spot at the quarry near Nant-y-Gamar.
We then took an anticlockwise circuit around Nant-y-Gamar but took the more defined paths around the summit rather than fighting our way through the normal overgrown path. Only a few Orchids were spotted on the path leading to St David's College from where we completed our circuit back up Nant-y-Gamar and then down towards Bodafon Farm.
A slight extension was made around Craig-y-don to scope out a microbrewery but unfortunately it didn't open to 4pm even though Google suggested it opens at Noon. So, we followed the prom back to the cars and drove to the Albion in Conwy where various Ales were sampled.
Birds Identified on walk; Carrion Crow, Oystercatcher, Cormorant, Common Buzzard, Curlew, Skylark, Chiffchaff, Jackdaw and Fulmar.
