When? Started: 1993 Who? Started with staff and friends from U H S, Chester. Organiser: Martyn Harris We walk every Wednesday and Saturdays, New Years day and May Day. How many walk? Walks take place as long as there are at least 2 wanting to walk on that day. More walk on a Wednesday than on a Saturday. Most ever: 29. Current group size walking: 2-7 in mid-week and 2-4 on Saturday. Where do we walk? Saturday: Anywhere in North and Mid-Wales, Peak District, Shropshire and the Long Mynd and as far North as the Trough of Bowland. Thursday: Anywhere within about 40 miles of Chester. Type of walk: Distance: 6 – 14 miles (but usually under 10 miles). Climb: up to 4000’ (but usually very much less!). Bersham and The Nant 1st April 2026

Not quite a waterfall, but it's pretty good fall for a weir.

Time: 2 hour 54 minutes. On the move walking average: 2.2 m.p.h. Overall walk average: 1.4 m.p.h.
Temperature: 16.0 Celsius at lunch time The Nant.
Beaufort Wind Force: Just Light air.
Group: Martyn, Nigel and Elaine, Fran.
A small selective group enjoyed this very varied walk along both sides of the Afon Clywedog from Bersham.
Spring flowers were the bonus today, including: Wood anemone, Common dandelion. Green alkanet, Forget-me-not, Lesser celandine and even a few Bluebells. Ramsons were not in flower yet, but their presence was noted, including their occasional odour!
Birds seen or heard today included: European robin, Common blackbird, Wood nuthatch, Song thrush, Chiffchaff, Great tit, Common chaffinch, Grey wagtail, Common pheasant, Coal tit, Blue tit, Winter wren and Great tit.
Good conditions underfoot, but my boots still needed cleaning!
Too early a finish to visit call in for refreshments a local hostelry, so I had to wait for a refreshing glass of Gwynt y Draig Black Dagon cider after cleaning my boots!
