Loggerheads, Pantymwyn and the Leete 6th September 2018

Setting off through the trees from the loggerheads entrance.
Our first view of Moel Famau.
Our second view of Moel Famau.
This is what the second view should be.
On the way to Pantymwyn.
This tower looked as though it was being lived in.
On the Leete, heading back to Loggerheads.
A section of the ugraded Leete path.
Afon Alyn, but not a lot of water flowing here.
Inside the Mill at Loggereads.
Back at Loggerheads - could this be our lunch spot?
Our lunch spot in the dry, protected from the rain by a wonderfiul Fir tree.
Walk stats:Distance: 4.8 miles. Climb: 442'.
Time: 2 hours 30 minutes. On the move walking average: 2.6 m.p.h. Overall walk average: 1.9 m.p.h.
Group: Martyn, Wendy, Sue and Michel.
The forecast for today wasn't good, unless both the Met Office and BBC had ot it wrong, but they didn't.
Arriving at the Bwlch Penbarras car park, it started to rain quite heavily and visibilty was getting worse.
it didn't take long for us to decide, the planned walk over Moel Fenlli was not a good idea, the only sensible walk would be a low level walk.
We decided a walk from Loggerheads along The Leete would be the best option, as we knew that much of the walk would have a fair amount of protection from the trees.
We all put on our waterproof before setting off, and didn't remove them until the end of the walk.
The route we went on allowed us t explore paths and roads on the East side of The Leete, going through Mold Golf Course on the way to Pantymwyn.
The return route followed The Leete all the way to Loggerheads, just in time for us to have lunch.
Thankfully we found dry seats on benches around the trunk of a large Fir tree, all the time under the cover of it canopy.
After walk drinks were enjoyed at the Glasfryn, where hot drinks of tea and coffee were very welcome.
Few birds today, but those seen or heard today include: Carrion crow, European robin, Wood nuthatch, Woodpigeon and Common blackbird.
Although e had only had a short walk, it was one that we all enjoyed after prospects at Bwlch Penbarras suggested we might not get one T ALL!
